Today I will be going through my highlight and contour routine which I tend to do when I am attending special events. It is a full coverage routine so hence why only for special occasions!
Highlight and contouring really depends on your face shape. The areas of your face you want to push in, you apply the dark product and the areas you want to bring out, you apply the light product.
Now it took me a while to get into the swing of the whole extreme contouring thing. It has become such a trend that people feel like they HAVE to do it. I really disagree since the art of contouring really depends on YOUR face shape. Where I may have to contour, for example along my nose to slim it down, some people could easily skip that if they already have a cute wee slim nose.
LA Girl Cosmetics orange concealer to counteract the dark circles under my eyes.
Maybelline Fit me Concealer in shade 20 to hide the orange tones
Extended down along my eyes for a bit more coverage
Patted it into skin with my Bare Minerals concealer brush
Further blended it into skin using a sponge
LA Girl Cosmetics concealer in Beautiful Bronze.
Applied some down my cheekbones, a little bit along my forehead, along my jaw line and down the sides of my nose.
To further highlight I took out my trusty Collection loose powder and ‘baked’ the concealer under my eyes with a LOT of powder using the same sponge. I applied this down the centre of my nose, on my forehead since its quite small and along the sides of my jaw to bring them out as I have a really round face.
I set the contoured areas with the Sleek Face Contour kit in medium. This also comes with a gold toned highlighter which I popped right on the tip of my nose and the high plains of my face.
After 10 minutes I dusted of the excess powder and I was left with nice highlighted face. My face literally looked air brushed and flawless from 1.30pm all the way till 3 in the morning! Caked it for a looong time ;o)
As 2015 is literally around the corner I compiled my favourite products of 2014 which also seem to be under £10 :oD We all love beauty products that are amazing for their quality and the price right?! I have seen a few videos on You Tube where people talk about their favourites and I always thought it was going to be hard but surprisingly it was the opposite. I say surprisingly because I always switch up my products but when it came to selecting out the products to write about I just knew which ones were my favourites! Lets just say some of these products were also my morning life savers…you know when you miss your alarm and have like 5 minutes to get ready but NEED to look presentable…..Yup those kinda mornings….
Here are my top 10 products UNDER £10!
This is the I Divine in Storm Palette by Sleek retailing for £7.99. For the price, this palette is amazing! The eye shadows are incredibly pigmented and smooth. I am a huge fan of primers, both face and eyes, though for these I can get away with not using a primer. With the variety of colours this offers, you can easily use it for a subtle day time eye or pump your whole look with the gorgeous shimmery cranberry, navy blue or even the forest green colour ❤
Not going to lie but I had a bit of a moment when I swatched this eyeshadow for the first time. For £1 the quality and pigmentation of this product is on a whole new level. A level I didn’t even knew existed. This is the Mmmm mono eyeshadow by Makeup Revolution. It is a matte deep brown with great colour pay off. It blends like a dream and is fab for contouring!
I am so sure I use this every day….This is the Rimmel lip liner in Oil Spice retailing for £2.99. What can I say about this lipliner?! Simply just love it! It is very easy to apply, creamy and leaves a matte finish without over drying the lips. Also very suitable for a variety of skin tones as I have used them on different clients before.
Being a concealer addict always on the hunt for great concealers this one by Rimmel is great bargain for £5.49. Very thin consistency and creamy, blends beautifully and doesn’t cake up under the eyes!
This is the B.Vibrant Lip and Cheek colour in Goji 138 which costs £3.99 ( normally £7.99 but reduced down in Superdrug). This is a lovely berry colour. I usually wear it as a day time bold lip but equally looks nice on the cheeks. It is very hydrating on the lips so for the price this product is a must for me.
This lipstick is simply called shade 11 by Makeup Academy and retails for only £1. Makeup academy always have very creamy and hydrating lip products and this one as always is just as amazing. It is quite a browney colour with a pink/burgundy undertone. Colour is hard to explain but great for the days when I want a natural lip colour.
I decided to go out and buy this eyeliner by NYC after hearing Desi Perkins from You Tube rave about it. After buying it for only £2.49 I totally knew why she was in love with it. It has a very thin point which allows for a sharp flick and accessibility to go right in the inner corners of the eye. The liquid is indeed a true black, perfect for a dramatic eyeliner look.
This blush by Makeup Academy retails for £1 and is simply the bomb.com. It is called Lolly which totally reminds me of the Chupa Chupa lollipops :oD…..just me?? It is a bubblegum pinkey colour and as you can see, I have hit pan. It is totally worth that quid considering how pigmented and long-lasting the colour is.
I use this clear mascara as a clear brown gel. It is by 2True and costs only £1.99. It does the job of a normal brow gel, keeps them in place all throughout the day! It is not clear any more as it has been mixed in with the brown powder I used on my brows. Overall a great product :o)
Whenever anyone asks me for my recommendation of a mascara I honestly always tell them to go for the Maybelline Colossal mascara which costs £7.19. I definitely have a soft spot for this product because it was my first ever mascara I bought and luckily it was worth every penny. I am not a mascara fan but this makes my lashes look so full! It gives the lashes length and volume, works wonders I tell you.
That is all lovelies! Was quite a long post but hopefully it can give new product ideas?!
Today I am going to be sharing with you all how to apply false lashes. I do not know if there are different ways to put on lashes, this is just the way I do them and I hope it can help you!
First of all, find a good lash glue. There are loads out on the market, from what I have heard the brand Duo is really good. Here is the one I use…
I do love this stuff! Half way through!
Can’t forget the most important part..LASHES. These are the ‘Dramatic’ ones by Primark. These are the only ones I have been using so far but now I can actually put them on, I can splurge on different lashes. Though having said that for a £1 Primark lashes are decent.
I put a little bit of glue along the band of the lash and pick it up with my tweezers. The tweezers I own are Superdrug brand.
Looking into a mirror I tilt my head up and place the lash as closely as I can onto my lash line.
After doing so I squeeze my false lashes and real lashes together. To be extra sure that it wont come off, I grab my tweezers and push the lash downwards (without too much force).
As you can see that with lashes it can make a difference. In my opinion it pulls the whole makeup look together.
Voila! That is my method. If you cannot seem to grasp putting on lashes then don’t freak out, keep trying. Truuussttt me, it has taken quite a few months of practise for me!
I do have another blog post on how I got the makeup I have in the pictures above, keep an eye out! ❤ XXX
Hi Guys! I hope you are all having a great day so far!
Last week me and my friend went out for lunch to Gourmet Burger. Since I have already mentioned where we went to I shall also say that Gourmet Burger food is just delicious. They have a variety of burgers, sides and the chicken is halal! So if you are ever in George Street for lunch, do check them out!
Now let’s get to the makeup part :o) I chose very neutral eyes with a pop of shimmer in the inner corners of my eye. Surprisingly I didn’t feel like wearing lipstick….whoever knows me personally knows that I am a hardcore lipstick addict! Instead I just applied a thin layer of lip balm and rocked my natural lip colour. My outfit and hijab style was very Arabian inspired. Recently I have been loving wavy dresses and messy but not so messy hijab. You know the effortless and elegant look!
This dress was purchased from the Edinburgh Mela. I love the net lacy detailing across the neck and arms. The colour of this dress is a stunning cranberry shade-perfect for Fall/Autumn.
My eye make up was super simple. I patted gold eyeshadow on my lid and with a blending brush I defined my crease with brown eyeshadow. Even though it was a simple eye, I kept on building up the crease with different shades of brown for a more smokey look. In my waterline I applied white eyeliner and smudged out my lower lash line with dark brown eyeshadow. In my inner corner I gave a pop of colour which was a shimmery white colour. Obviously I gave myself a winged liner, topped with mascara and voila!
